Architectural Significance

E. Fay Jones' Prairie School Masterwork

The chapel's design recalls the Prairie School of architecture popularized by Frank Lloyd Wright, with whom Jones had apprenticed. Inspired by Paris' Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, Jones created a structure that honors both historical precedent and organic modernism.

Design Philosophy

Organic Architecture

The chapel embodies organic architecture principles - blending seamlessly with its natural woodland setting while creating a transcendent interior space filled with filtered forest light.

Materials: Native stone, wood, glass

Inspiration: Sainte-Chapelle, Prairie School, Ozark landscape

Structural Innovation

Glass & Light

425 windows create a luminous interior where natural light filters through trees and glass, changing throughout the day and seasons. Over 6,000 square feet of glass dissolve boundaries between interior and forest.

Effect: Cathedral of light in the woods
