University of Arkansas Campus Guide
Welcome to the Hill. Your complete guide to Razorback game days, historic Senior Walk, and the must-see landmarks of the U of A campus.
The University of Arkansas is the heartbeat of Fayetteville and the cultural anchor of Northwest Arkansas. Founded in 1871, "The Hill" offers a stunning blend of historic architecture and modern energy that draws visitors, students, and alumni from across the nation. From the electric atmosphere of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on football Saturdays to the quiet reverence of Senior Walk, this campus is a destination that transcends academics.
Whether you're a prospective student exploring campus, an alumnus returning for homecoming, or a visitor seeking to experience the iconic "Calling the Hogs," this guide covers everything you need to know about exploring the U of A. Rx Catering NWA is proud to serve the Razorback community with premier tailgate and event catering for game days and campus celebrations.
A Tradition of Excellence Since 1871
Established as Arkansas's land-grant institution in 1871 under the Morrill Act, the University of Arkansas has grown from a single building on a hilltop farm to a world-class research university with over 32,000 students. As the flagship of the University of Arkansas System, the university consistently ranks among the nation's top 50 public research universities and holds R1 Carnegie Classification for very high research activity.
The campus architecture tells the story of the university's evolution. The iconic towers of Old Main, built in 1875, represent the Second Empire style of the founding era. Collegiate Gothic structures from the early 20th century line the historic core, while contemporary buildings house cutting-edge research facilities. This architectural diversity, combined with mature trees and dramatic hillside topography, makes the campus one of the most beautiful in the SEC.
Notable programs include the Sam M. Walton College of Business, the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, and nationally ranked programs in architecture, engineering, and journalism. The university's economic impact on the region exceeds $2 billion annually, making it crucial to the growth of Northwest Arkansas.

Over 5 miles of sidewalks etched with the names of every graduate since 1876. It’s the university's most cherished tradition—find your name or a relative's.
Chi Omega Greek Theatre
A replica of the Theatre of Dionysus in Athens. This open-air amphitheater hosts pep rallies, concerts, and graduation events.
Razorback Athletics
The Cathedrals of College Sports.
Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium
Home of the Hogs. On game Saturdays, this stadium becomes the third-largest city in Arkansas. The atmosphere is electric.
Bud Walton Arena
Known as the "Basketball Palace of Mid-America." Famous for its incredible noise levels and passionate fanbase during basketball season.
Baum-Walker Stadium
Consistently voted the best college baseball stadium in the country. The "Omahogs" draw massive crowds for spring games.
The Game Day Experience
Razorback game days are legendary experiences that transform Fayetteville into a sea of cardinal red. The population of the city nearly doubles during football home games, and fans travel from across the state and nation to experience the electric atmosphere.
Calling the Hogs: The most famous tradition in college sports, "Woooo, Pig! Sooie!"
echoes across the entire city on game days. Dating back to the 1920s, the Hog Call involves raising
your arms from your knees to above your head while stretching out the "Woo" for as long as possible,
then shouting "Pig Sooie!" The stadium's 76,000 fans doing this in unison creates an unforgettable
sound that visiting teams dread.
Tailgating Zones: The "Gardens" (the landscaped area south of the stadium) and
Victory Village are the prime tailgating spots. RV lots fill up days in advance with elaborate
setups featuring tents, satellite dishes, grills, and fans' prized Razorback memorabilia. The
tailgate scene extends along Razorback Road and into surrounding neighborhoods.
The Hog Walk: Two hours before kickoff, the team, marching band, and spirit squads
parade through the parking lot into the stadium. Thousands of fans line the route, calling the Hogs
as players enter. This is one of the best photo opportunities of the day.
Game Day Traffic: Arrive at least 3 hours early for parking near the stadium. Many
fans park in downtown Fayetteville and walk up the hill, stopping at Dickson Street establishments
along the way. The free Razorback Transit buses run increased schedules on game days.
Student Life & The Union
The Arkansas Union
The living room of campus. Contains the food court, bookstore, and student organization offices. A great place to grab a coffee and people watch.
Greek Life
The U of A has a massive Greek system, with historic fraternity and sorority houses lining Maple Street and Arkansas Avenue. The architecture is stunning.
Mullins Library
The academic hub. Recently renovated with modern study spaces and an impressive special collections department housing Arkansas history.
