Tontitown Winery is more than a place to drink wine; it is a living monument to the resilience and culture of the Italian families who settled this region. Surrounded by the rolling hills of Springdale, the winery invites visitors to experience "La Dolce Vita" right here in Northwest Arkansas. The winery operates out of the former home of the Taldo family, built in 1917, preserving the architectural charm of the era.
The Tontitown Legacy
In the late 19th century, a group of Italian families sought refuge and a new life in the Arkansas Ozarks. Despite initial hardships, they found the climate perfect for vineyards. Today, the winery continues this agricultural tradition, producing wines from the same grape varietals brought over largely by those early settlers.
Inside the winery, the Tontitown Historical Museum features photographs, tools, and artifacts that tell the story of the community's founding and growth.
Signature Wines
Concord & Ivy's Red
Sweet, robust reds made from locally grown Concord grapes. Describes as "jam in a glass," these wines pair perfectly with pasta and pizza.
Niagara & Muscadine
Crisp, fruity whites that capture the essence of the Ozark summer. The Muscadine wine is a Southern classic with a unique, sweet profile.
Strawberry & Peachy Red
Looking for something different? The fruit wines are refreshing and perfect for sipping on the patio during warm weather.
The Tontitown Grape Festival
An Annual Tradition Since 1898
Every August, the community gathers for the Tontitown Grape Festival, one of the oldest festivals in Arkansas. The event features:
- Spaghetti Dinners: Thousands of pounds of homemade pasta and sauce served.
- Carnival Rides: Fun for the whole family.
- Queen Concordia: Coronation of the festival queen.
- Grape Stomp: Traditional grape stomping competitions.
It's a celebration of harvest, heritage, and community that brings visitors from all over the state.
