Historic Downtown Rogers | Neighborhood Guide - Rx Catering NWA
Historic Downtown Rogers
Where history meets hip. Authentic brick streets, craft breweries, Railyard Park, and a revitalized community vibe.
Downtown Rogers has undergone a stunning transformation over the past decade, blending its rich railway heritage with modern creative energy. What was once a quiet, fading downtown is now one of Northwest Arkansas's most vibrant districts. Brick-lined streets host acclaimed craft breweries, world-class coffee roasters, and art galleries attracting visitors from across the region.
The transformation centers on two flagship destinations: Onyx Coffee Lab HQ—a massive coffee campus in a restored 1907 building—and Ozark Beer Company—NWA's celebrated brewery in a historic flour mill. The new Railyard Park brings the community together with live music, playgrounds, and events throughout the year. Rx Catering NWA loves the authentic character of Downtown Rogers events and is proud to serve this revitalized historic district.

The Railroad Heritage
Downtown Rogers exists because of the railroad. In 1881, the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway (known as the "Frisco") established a depot here, and Rogers quickly incorporated around it. The town was named after Captain Charles W. Rogers, general manager of the Frisco line. The original red brick commercial buildings that line Walnut Street were constructed in the late 1800s and early 1900s to serve the booming rail economy—general stores, hotels, and warehouses catering to farmers shipping apples and other produce to markets across the country.
For much of the 20th century, as commerce shifted to highways and shopping malls, downtown declined. Storefronts sat vacant, and historic buildings deteriorated. But starting around 2010, a grassroots revitalization took hold. Local entrepreneurs began repurposing the heritage structures, attracted by affordable rents and authentic character. The Railyard Park project, completed in 2019, transformed an abandoned rail siding into the community's signature gathering space with the Butterfield Stage for concerts, specialized playgrounds, and bicycle amenities connecting to the Razorback Greenway.
Today, developers carefully restore historic buildings for modern use while preserving their character, creating a unique blend of 19th-century architecture and 21st-century creativity that distinguishes Downtown Rogers from any other district in Northwest Arkansas.
